Connect the physical world to the virtual one, and see what the subsurface is really shaped like.

GEOVIA Geology connects the physical world to the virtual world to reveal a new layer of insight into the nature and shape of subsurface mineral resources and natural hazards. By integrating orebody and seam modelling on a single platform with geostatistical analysis, survey, block model generation, resource modelling and estimation, the tools help mines measure, model, plan and schedule the extraction of mineral deposits more precisely than before. Two 3DEXPERIENCE roles carry the discipline: the Geology Modeler and the Geoscience Referential Manager. ACALA licenses them, connects Surpac, and trains the geologists.

Two roles

Model the geology, govern the data.

Each role has Benefits and Highlights from its role definition, and the newest capabilities from recent releases.

1Model

Geology Modeler

Accelerate the creation of 3D geological models of the subsurface, test multiple hypotheses rapidly, and make repeatable updates when new geoscience data arrives.

Benefits

  • Rapidly build geology and grade envelopes to inform mining and civil engineering decisions.
  • Use 3DEXPERIENCE collaboration to share knowledge and improve model accuracy.
  • Integrate with upstream and downstream processes to preserve data integrity and reuse knowledge across streams.
  • Parametrised process for repeatability and auditability.

Highlights

  • Create and display geological datasets; select, analyse and interpret them.
  • Implicitly create geology models and grade shells; audit outputs against their modelling parameters.
  • Versioning of geology models; share models within the platform or to third-party applications.
  • New: section views referenced to drafting planes; modelling with point data for complex deposits; pinchout, washout and local faulting for accuracy.
2Govern

Geoscience Referential Manager

Define and manage the geoscience data referential from geoscientists, consultants and contractors, from exploration boreholes to resource models for classification.

Benefits

  • Administrate geoscience data with external sources in a dedicated web app, including semantics and access rights.
  • Define data characteristics for the platform, including positioning and visual representation.
  • Constant monitoring of the data lifecycle for integrity and auditability.
  • Interpret geoscience data for a strong, confident understanding of the underground.

Highlights

  • Ingest geoscience data; define attribute display settings; manage attribute access rights.
  • Create new attribute interpretations; manage the status of the dataset; interpret boreholes against AEC data.
  • New: invalid geoscience data rejected at import; datasets visualised on a 3D globe and 2D map with geographic context.
3Desktop

GEOVIA Surpac and Block Modeler

The desktop products the roles connect to: database, sections, solids, block models and estimation.

Products

  • Surpac: drillhole database, geological modelling, block modelling, estimation and reporting to international standards.
  • Block Modeler: volumetric block models, geostatistics and resource evaluation with high-performance engines.

Together

  • Collaborative Designer for Surpac keeps Surpac data native on the platform.
  • The Geology Model and Resource Model solutions show the two working together.
4ACALA

Licences, models and training

How the discipline reaches an Indonesian project.

Services

  • Licences for the roles and Surpac; configuration of the referential with your data model.
  • Geology models built or reviewed by ACALA geologists; resource estimates signed under SNI, KCMI, JORC 2012, SAMREC or NI 43-101.

Training

  • Surpac geological modelling and resource estimation courses on your own data.
  • Training in the Geology Modeler role for teams moving to implicit modelling.

Questions people ask

Geology FAQ

What does the Geology discipline cover?
Geological modelling of orebodies and seams, geostatistics, survey, block model generation and resource estimation, on one platform, so the subsurface is measured, modelled and planned consistently.
What is implicit modelling?
Surfaces and grade shells computed from the data by rules rather than digitised by hand. When the data changes, the model is rebuilt in minutes, and every output is tied to the parameters that made it.
Do we still need Surpac?
Yes for most teams. Surpac remains the desktop for the database, detailed digitising, block modelling and estimation. The Geology Modeler adds implicit modelling and collaboration; the referential manager governs the data both use.
What is a geoscience referential?
The governed set of geoscience data, with semantics, access rights, positioning and lifecycle status, that every downstream task refers to instead of a copy.
How does ACALA help?
Licences and configuration, geology models built or reviewed, signed resource estimates, and training for geologists on Surpac and the platform roles.

Next step

Bring the drillhole database. We will show you the implicit model and the referential it lives in.

A working session with an ACALA geologist on your own data, then a proposal for licences, modelling services or training.
