Support

Help with licences, software and the people who use them.

ACALA supports the GEOVIA licences it sells and the teams that use them: licence keys and Computer IDs, installation and updates, first-line technical support in Bahasa Indonesia, and training when the question is really about method. The licensing questions we hear most often, about the Dassault Systèmes License Server, are answered below. For anything else, the contact page reaches a person during office hours.

Dassault Systèmes License Server (DSLS) FAQ

What does DSLS stand for?
Dassault Systèmes License Server.
What is the Dassault Systèmes Licensing Server?
A licensing system developed by Dassault Systèmes. GEOVIA Surpac, MineSched and Whittle are now licensed through it, by roles rather than modules.
What are the benefits of Dassault Systèmes licensing?
  • A soft-lock system: no physical dongle or sentinel.
  • Customers are up and running sooner, with no dongle to ship.
  • No lost, stolen or damaged dongles and no waiting for a replacement.
  • Licences are easy to manage: choose from the available list and take licences offline.
Which GEOVIA products are licensed through DSLS, and as which roles?
Surpac, MineSched and Whittle functionality is licensed with GEOVIA roles, not modules, and there is no plan to support modules with DSLS. The roles available on DSLS:
ProductGEOVIA roleTrigram
GEOVIA SurpacGEOVIA Drill and Blast DesignerJDB
GEOVIA Mine DesignerJMI

What are the DSLS deployment options?

Local node lock. The licence file (LIC) is enrolled into Surpac or MineSched and locked to one computer with a soft-lock Computer ID. Most similar to the GEOVIA local roaming licence, but restricted to one physical computer.

Network concurrent. The licence file (LIC or LICZ) is enrolled into DSLS and locked to one computer with a soft-lock Computer ID. Most similar to the GEOVIA network licence with Network License Manager, but restricted to one physical computer or one Hyper-V virtual machine with TPM 2.0.

Managed. With the Managed Licensing Service, licences of GEOVIA clients under maintenance are fully managed in the Dassault Systèmes cloud data centre, so companies need no physical licence server.

What analytics does DSLS offer?
Through the License Server Administration tool web interface (the URL comes in the auto-generated Client Care and Order email) a customer can add authorisation rules, configure licence expiry alerts, get licence usage information, change passwords, consult logs stored on the server, stop the server, change its configuration (ports, server names), enrol and delete licence keys, stop usage tracing, enable statistics and access monitoring data. More detail is in the DSLS Installation and Configuration guide.
How is the Computer ID or Target ID used instead of a dongle?
The Computer ID (Target ID) is based in part on the network adapter. The adapter in use when the ID was created must be active when the licence is used; an adapter disabled in Windows settings is unknown to the operating system and to the licensing. You give the Computer ID to your sales contact and the licence is created locked to that computer. For a network licence the ID is that of the computer hosting the licence server; for a node-lock licence it is generated on the laptop or desktop where Surpac or MineSched is installed.
How do I generate the Computer ID?
Follow the instructions at 3ds.com/terms/software-keys. Valid Target IDs have the format three letters, a hyphen and sixteen hexadecimal characters, for example JZR-423010145B64B1A4.
Can I see the Computer ID inside Surpac, MineSched or Whittle?
Yes. In Surpac choose File, then Change or Inspect License. In MineSched choose Settings, License Management, make sure Dassault Systèmes Licensing is selected and click Configure; the Computer ID field is on the right of the form that opens.
Where do I get a GEOVIA licence key?
Your Dassault Systèmes sales contact or distributor, which for Indonesia is ACALA, submits the key request in the ordering system on your behalf. You provide the Computer ID. Alternatively follow the instructions at 3ds.com/terms/software-keys.
How do I move the licence to another computer?
Create a new Computer ID on the new computer and make a change request through your sales contact or distributor.
How do I get an emergency licence key?
Emergency keys are issued for a technical emergency, only for commercial licences in the customer’s existing installed base. The service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a committed 4-hour turnaround. The customer or distributor fills in the licence key request form and emails it to ds.emergencykeys(at)3ds.com.
Where do I get the DSLS Administration tool?
Log on with your DS Passport at the Dassault Systèmes resource library page for the licence server and licence keys, or at software.3ds.com, choose the 3DEXPERIENCE and V6 button and download Dassault Systèmes License Server.
Is DSLS translated?
The Administration tool interface and the DSL SDK error messages are English only. Error messages created by Surpac or MineSched are translated into English, Chinese and Russian, and national language parameters let locale-specific user names be displayed and understood on both client and server.
Can one user open several instances of Surpac, MineSched or Whittle?
Yes. Multiple open sessions consume only one network or node-lock licence.
Will third-party Surpac scripts need updating?
Scripts using the SclLicenseManager licensing command keep working with GEOVIA licensing. The DSLS version of this command is still work in progress.
Does DSLS work on virtual machines?
Only Hyper-V virtual machines with TPM 2.0 are supported. DSLS cannot be installed, and a Computer ID cannot be created, on VMware or on Hyper-V without TPM 2.0, and there are no current plans to support VMware. You can still install Surpac or MineSched on a virtual machine and use a network licence, but that licence cannot be taken offline and a node-lock licence cannot be used.

Do we return our sentinels when we migrate to DSLS?
In certain circumstances. If all products on a sentinel move to DSLS, the dongle is retrieved.
How much does Managed DSLS cost, and does it need a Target ID?
Managed DSLS is offered free of charge to customers under current support, and it does not require a Target ID.
Can we keep Managed DSLS if support is not renewed?
No. If the support of a licence is not renewed, the corresponding Managed DSLS key must be shifted to an on-premises DSLS key.
